Collaborative, not competitive

Students are admitted directly into the College of Engineering and into the major of their choice. There is no competing for space in any course of study.

Supporting Student Success

The College of Engineering offers resources to help students meet their professional and personal goals.

Choose Your Path

The engineering curriculum at Iowa begins with three semesters in common. This helps students build a solid engineering foundation, connect with peers, and choose their specific major. Students then use the remaining five semesters to delve into major-specific courses, choose an elective focus area, and complete broader general education requirements.

Build Your Future

Hawkeye engineers graduate ready to excel in their careers. The Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences represents our sense of community and is a home away from home for students and faculty alike. The building is designed to provide a great learning environment, housing all engineering departments, tech-infused classrooms, workshops, research labs, tutoring space, faculty offices, regular game nights, ice cream socials, and more.
